1) He's on fire because of a mishap in the production of a Broadway play he was in, where he played Abraham Lincoln. (Thus the top hat and bow tie) During the scene he was sitting around a campfire in his hometown of Springfield and accidentally got to close to the fire and all the stage makeup he had on burst into flames. .....
